What’s being done in Litchfield?

Here are some things we’ve accomplished in recent years:

  • We’ve provided a responsible beverage server training free of charge for local businesses.
  • Provided prevention training opportunities for Coalition Members
(i.e., 3 members attended Program Sharing, 5 members attended at least one PCN training).
  • Collaborated with the Litchfield Middle & High schools to host a presentation by Craig Hillier on Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. We had 625 students in grades 6-12 hear Craig’s message.
  • We have been working hard on collecting assessment data. We distributed 1000 mail surveys to the Litchfield school district. Also, to get a better picture of the issue and establish certain baseline data we collaborated with the Litchfield Middle and High schools to implement two student surveys per school year during grant years.
  • We have conducted 60-100 one-to-one conversations with community members. This data is used to develop our strategic plan.
  • We formed a youth group called the UBU youth group. This youth group has been assisting MAPP during the assessment phase. The youth group consists of 25-35 youth in grades 8-12, and meets every other Tuesday during the school year. Some members of the youth group attend a Youth Leadership Academy in Baxter, MN each year.
  • Developed a MAPP brochure to distribute in the community.
  • We kicked off the “Take It To The Box” medication disposal program.
  • Spearheaded the effort to successfully pass a Social Host Ordinance in the city of Litchfield and Meeker County.
